Description Of ItemColour illustration of a dissected stomach from a patient who committed suicide by ingesting arsenic. Notes on the reverse detail testing the fluid in the stomach for arsenic. The stomach was extremely inflamed, ‘the mucus membrane of the stomach was excessively reduced by vascularity and was mottled by numerous red points,’ and contained a large amount of dark fluid. A small chronic ulcer with a hard base was found at the upper part of the stomach.
