Description Of ItemPencil illustration of a torn popliteal artery without an opening in the artery nor haemorrhage. The illustration is signed AW 1843 [Alexander Watson] and labelled ‘Dr Handyside’s Museum.’ The case is detailed on the reverse, and is noted to have been described by John Lizars in the 19th volume of the Edinburgh Medical and Surgical Journal (1823) page 365. Notes on reverse also direct to a similar ‘interesting case of obliteration of External Iliac Artery’ from Edinburgh Medical and Surgical Journal volume 19, page 45. The article is by John Bryant. From packet of illustrations labelled ‘Injuries of Arteries.’
