| Description | Boyd graduated MB ChB from University of Edinburgh in 1949 and MD in 1963. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1965 and held the post of Secretary to the College from 1975 to 1979. His connection to the College continued and he was convener of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh Pakistan Committee and organised events in Hong Kong and Singapore. He also wrote a book on the history of medicine in Caithness and 'Leith Hospital 1848-1988'.
