| Description Of Item | This section contains one volume of 111 letters and papers of James Hamilton the elder. Although the title on the binding is 'Letters to Dr Hamilton' the volume contains other papers as well as letters. At the front of the volume is an engraving of Raeburn's portrait of Hamilton and the inscription 'Presented to Mr George Bell 15th November 1824 by J Hamilton'. All the letters are addressed to Dr Hamilton at Nicolson Street or the Royal Infirmary, except for his draft replies. |
