| Description Of Item | Press cutting of page 633 from the Lancet, originally published 9 June 1866. Titled ‘Mode of distinguishing between nervous idiopathic albuminuria and the albuminuria of diseased kidneys’, it reports the test done by Mr [Auguste] Corlieu based on urine’s odour. According to the cutting, after ingesting ‘odorous substances’ (cubebs, turpentine, etc), urine will possess their odours when the kidney is healthy but won’t have any particular odour when the kidney is diseased.
