| Description Of Item | Letter from James M Bell addressed to Professor Laycock. The author James M Bell writes to Laycock explaining that he has been treating a patient for a ‘month for a derangement of the brain that I cannot clearly make out.’ He notes that the patient ‘does not seem to be able to do his work as usual’ and that his ‘left pupil is often very much enlarged.’ James describes treating the patient with mercury which improved the patient’s condition for a time but they later relapsed. In a postscript note James writes that the patient has not experienced any fits. The letter concludes with ‘I shall be very glad if you can admit him as a patient.’ |
