| Description | Owen was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1812 and studied as an extra-mural student at Edinburgh. He qualified as licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He practised in Finchingfield, Essex for 24 years then was in general practice in London.
