After a brief discussion of the recent weather, the bulk of the letter is a handwritten copy of the biography of Chevallier Desseasau, a Franco-Prussian soldier, from volume two. of the Eccentric Mirror by GH Wilson. This is accompanied with a pencil sketch copy of an engraving of the aforementioned Chevalier. Letter, which is unsigned, is handwritten on two sheets, double sided having been folded into an envelope with Smith's address and the remnants of a red wax seal in one side.
