Description Of ItemColour illustration of a deceased infant ‘of Eliz.th [Elizabeth] Cuthbertson’ found concealed at ‘Bourdeaux House’ [Burdiehouse?] near Edinburgh on 12 May 1839. The infant was inspected two days later and found to have general lividity particularly of the head, ‘venom congestion’ internally with an accumulation of dark blood, the lungs contained air, and the ‘viscera natural.’ Marks of injury were found on the ‘cuticle on neck,’ with the ‘cuticle having been pulled off’ [illegible note may provide more clarity]. [Possibly strangulation?]. Notes detailing the case on the reverse.
