Description | Austin joined the Incorporation of Surgeons in 1749 and became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1762. After the Treaty of Paris in 1763 a large number of sick and injured soldiers presented themselves to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.
