Description Of ItemIngredients listed in the recipe are: hiera picra [made from aloes and canella], cochineal, and red port wine.
It instructs to put both powder into a pint the wine and let it rest for 24 hours. To take a ‘gill’ of it per day, preferably in the morning before eating, until the pint is finished, and to start again in case of a new fit.
A note at the top of the text explains that this recipe was published by Thomas Sandford and Edward Gent, both from ‘the city of Kelkenny’ [Kilkenny] in Ireland.
