It recommends to first do some blood-letting, then keep to bed and drink ‘tartar whey’ in the morning and ‘balm-tea’ the rest of the day. Recipe copied from a medical text published in 1742, this ‘method’ had ‘almost universal success for either preventing or curing the present epidemical distemper’.
