Description Of ItemIngredients listed in recipe are: centaury, hyssop, ‘elicopane’ [elecampane], honey, and ‘flower of brimstone’ [sulfur].
Some instructions are to boil it in ‘five points of water till half be consumed’, and to drink it in the morning and at night. It recommends to avoid milk, cheese, salt meat, to drink between meals, and cold drinks ‘after heat’. It also recommends to drink ‘your beere’ warm with a bit of liquorice boiled in, and a bit of hyssop ‘if you will’.
The last sentence, in another handwriting: ‘This I tooke my selfe John Mearewall?’, same as in BAJ/1/23.
