| Description Of Item | According to the original manuscripts catalogue, the text is from Boerhaave's 'Aphorisms' but is a different text from BOH/1. The volume was wrongly titled 'Theory of Medicine' when it was rebound in 1989. The title page is signed 'G D'. The name 'Douglas' was originally on the front board which would indicate that the notes were taken by George or William (Gulielmus) Douglas. As such it is not by Boerhaave. An inscription on the flyleaf, dated 15th February 1866, reads 'This volume bought at Professor Pillan's sale in 1865 purports to be notes taken in Boerhaave's class by one G D in the years 1733, 4, 5. The name Douglas on the left hand corner of the board opposite this: The name of the writer must therefore have been George or William Douglas NB the Latin on the title page is bad.'
