Description Of Item | Coloured obstetrical painting with cross hatching depicting a foetus during a delivery with forceps with the forehead past the coccyx. The painting was done by Petrus Camper in 1752 for plate XVIII in William Smellie's 'A Sett of Anatomical Tables' (1754). There are labels present on the painting accompanied by a key, however, these are different from the labels that appear in Smellie's treatise. It is signed Camper of Londinus 1752. |
