Description Of Item | Coloured obstetrical painting with ink outlines depicting a foetus during a delivery with forceps with the parts between the coccyx and the os externum on the mother distended by the forehead and face of the foetus. The painting was done by Petrus Camper for plate XIX in William Smellie's 'A Sett of Anatomical Tables' (1754). The labels present in Smellie's treatise do not appear on the painting. It is signed Camper of Londinus 1752. |
