Description Of Item | The first ten pages are in Latin and each case starts with the name of the disease or condition and continues with the patient's symptoms and treatment. Names are not given. From pp12-35 are case notes in English headed by the patient's name and giving details of symptoms and treatment. From pp37-42 is a copy of a letter from Clerk to Dr J [John] Pringle in London dated 15th September 1759 concerning different treatments. From pp43-45 is a copy of a letter to Dr John Gregory at Aberdeen dated 5th June 1762, concerning an epidemic (possibly of influenza). From pp45-53 are copies of two letters to Count Carburi, one dated 31st March and 22nd July 1767, concerning different diseases and treatments including that of his own son. On the last page of the second letter an original list of diseases and prescriptions has been attached. This is followed by two inserts: an original case note by Clerk on a two year old boy dated 9th January 1767 and another on a 9 month old girl dated 9th February 1767. This is followed by two columns of references to Celsus and others in Latin. The final insert is a case note of an unnamed woman dated 26th January 1759. |
