| Description | David Midgley Cockcroft was indentured as a surgeon-apothecary in 1829, before attending a series of lectures at Mercer's Hospital in 1833. He became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1834 and a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in London in 1835.
