Description | Walker was born in India and started his medical degree at the University of Edinburgh in 1887. Due to continued ill health and travelling he did not graduate until 1904. After graduation he embarked on pathological research under Professor Greenfield and wrote his thesis on the histology of inflammation and repair. In 1908 he began working with Dr Alexander Bruce in the Royal College of Physicians' Laboratory, Edinburgh and published his work on disseminated sclerosis in the Transaction of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. During the First World War he started teaching at the university alongside his laboratory work. [Source: obituary in collection]
