| Description | Davidson graduated in medicine from the University of Edinburgh. In 1930 he was appointed to the Chair of Medicine in Aberdeen and in 1938 he was appointed to the Chair of Medicine in Edinburgh. He was knighted in 1956 and retired in 1958. He served as President of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh 1954-1957.
