Description Of Item | Charles Drummond used the prescriptions to write an article titled 'Pharmacy and Medicine in Old Edinburgh' (DRC/2) published in 1953. In it he transcribes a number of them, uses photographs of others as illustrations, gives the names of the doctors prescribing and information on the patients.
The prescriptions were originally kept in a number of paper folders. DRC/1/1-18 were in a folder titled 'Prescriptions mentioned in C G Drummond's 'Pharmacy and Medicine in Old Edinburgh'; DRC/1/19-42 were in a folder titled 'Prescriptions arranged alphabetically by name of patient'; and DRC/1/43-48 were in a folder titled 'Fragments of prescriptions'. There are three slips in the first folder indicating that items were lent and either not returned or not put back in the folder. |
