Description Of ItemReport discussing the use of cold and warm affusions to treat patients with continued fevers in the clinical wards of the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Scotland, in May, June and July 1810. Titley first describes two cases in which cold affusions were used, outlining their effects on pulse, body temperate and recovery time before providing a general summary of results. He then does the same with regard to warm affusions, discussing four patients, one of which had previously had cold affusions administered. This report was discussed by Dr Andrew Duncan in his 'Report Presented to the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh Respecting the Contagious Epidemic Diseases Which Have Prevailed, in That City and Its Neighbourhood, During the Year 1810'.
