Description Of Item | The indenture was between James Syme, surgeon apothecary and Professor of Clinical Surgery at the University of Edinburgh on the one part and John Foulis, son of Sir James Foulis of Woodhall and Andrew Grieve writer to the Signet and cautioner on the other part. The indenture apprenticed Foulis to Syme for five years and Grieve paid Syme £105. On the reverse is the discharge of the indenture dated 1 January 1840. |
