The volume contains: letter from John Hanson concerning his 'chagrin' at his son's behaviour and Hamilton's part in it dated 4th May 1825; copy of two draft replies by Hamilton, dated 7th May and 9th May; copy of Hamilton's letter dated 18th May in which he details Newton Hanson's forgery; and a letter from John Hanson (loose) dated 21st May explaining that he has passed Hamilton's last letter to his son for comment. Loose at the front of volume is an extract from the Courier, Friday July 15th 1825 concerning the sentencing to death of a man who had uttered a bill of exchange knowing it to be a forgery. |
