Description Of ItemAddressed to Mrs Hamilton. He writes concerning the education of her son and advises against studying at Oxford if he wants to be a physician and in favour if he wants to be a surgeon. He warns that his medical education will not be improved at Oxford, 'for there are no lectures of reputation upon any branch of medicine given', but he will form connections. He then outlines an education in anatomy, chemistry and botany.
