TitleLetter from James Jeffray, Edinburgh, to William Hamilton
DateNov 1783
Description Of ItemAddressed to William Hamilton. He has delayed replying as he has been trying to get Aitken's instruments for him. He was out-bid by Dr Hamilton at an auction of books. Dr Bell (Dr Benjamin Bell see HTW/2/4) has tried the Alansonian method of amputation and they await results. He criticises some of Cullen's conclusions in his third edition particularly as Cullen admits that he can not prove them 'you must not pretend to reason but implicitly believe'. Transcript available.
