| Description Of Item | From the collection of Samuel Kinner Wilson. These were in envelopes bound into a volume titled 'Unmounted Photographs'. The note with the collection describes them as 'early clinical photographs that belonged to Dr Batten of Batten and Thursfield' (Batten and Thursfield were joint editors of 'Diseases of Children', published 1913). Batten worked at the National Hospital at the same time as Kinnier Wilson and presumably passed the photographs to him.
Each envelope is labelled with a list of diseases. However, the photographs themselves were not labelled to correspond to these although many of them are captioned in other ways. The envelope labels were often difficult to decipher. |
