Suggests these casts and other ‘crania’ are available to view for ‘ethnological and phrenological illustration.’ Claims that the casts have been ‘taken from the original in the collection of the celebrated M du Chaillu’. Handwritten note reads: ‘Head skull + brain of the late [Dr] A Combe [illegible]. [Illegible] published 12/6.’ This note could refer to Dr Andrew Combe, a Scottish physician and former president of the Edinburgh Phrenological Society who died in 1847. |
