Description Of ItemCutting of newspaper or journal article about the attempted suicide by drowning of a 14-year-old girl named Letitia Knowles in Lincoln. Dated to 1864 from a reprinting of the story in the Sheffield Daily Telegraph on 10 Nov 1864. The exact source of this clipping is unknown, but is likely the Rochdale Observer – the backside of the clipping states ‘Printed at the Steam Press of E Wrigley and Son… for the Proprietor, Malcolm Douglas’. Douglas became editor of the Rochdale Observer in November 1861.
