Description Of ItemPatient case notes from the collection of Thomas Laycock, both detailing supposed cases of ‘[illegible] Kleptomania’. The first is 36-year-old John Wallace, admitted for treatment on 28 March 1854. Wallace is described as a ‘masturbator’ and a ‘klept’, a compulsive thief. The second case is of 23-year-old William Proctor, admitted on 28 December 1863. Proctor was epileptic, as well as a ‘notorious thief’ and ‘accomplished pickpocket’.
