| Description Of Item | Newspaper cutting of article entitled ‘The Burning of Barnum’s Museum’, regarding a fire that took place. The article particularly details the behaviours of the animals that were being kept in the museum as the fire occurred, and their reactions to it; according to the article, all of the animals bar three perished in the fire. The article is followed by a printing of the poem ‘Logomachy’ (meaning an argument about words) by Herbert Martyne. The cutting seems to have been made in such a way as to deliberately include both the full article and the poem. The source of the article could not be confirmed.
