The connection between melancholia and the health of the body, including appetite and blood, is made. The notes show interest in the sudden onset of anxiety and melancholia. A press cutting about the suicide of a man named Drysdale from Dunfermline is included. A cutting from On the Employment of Seclusion in the Treatment of the Insane written by John Charles Bucknill and published in issue one of The Asylum Journal is included. Letters from Charles Lamb to William Coleridge and William Hazlitt Jr are transcribed by Thomas Laycock.
