The 24 May 1861 letter is from B Richardson in Shrewsbury. The March 1862 letter is from James Murray in Galashiels. The 19 September 1873 letter is from MAR in Montrose. The 13 March 1876 letter is from PTE Stuart in Edinburgh, who additionally had a sexually transmitted infection. The 27 March 1858 letter is from [Crown] in Edinburgh. All letters describe the writer’s general health and a lack of benefit from consulting other doctors. Stuart’s letter includes a postscript asking for the letter to be kept private. Thomas Laycock has written over the top of the first page of Stuart’s letter with notes about his condition.
