| Description Of Item | Printed and edited composite image including a letter written by William Blacklock to George [Dixon ] about his intended marriage to Martha Poley Carlisle, during his confinement to the Crichton institute for syphilis; and two hand inked illustrations: a landscape overlooking what is most likely the Crichton Institute, with people and farm animals in the foreground, captioned ‘Marther Poley’; and an illustration of a horned ‘devil’ in a checkered/tweed suit smoking a pipe.
