Description Of ItemExcerpt one: on the alleged murder of house-surgeon Mr Harrison by poisoning of his milk. Head-nurse of the lunatic ward Hannah Steele was arrested and charged with wilful murder.

Excerpt two: on the reverse, details a statement from Francis Thomas Yem, aged fifty-two, who murdered a man in Birmingham by beating his skull with a hammer. Yem was tried for wilful murder and stated that he ‘didn’t intend’ to kill the man. Mentions how he served in the 85th Regiment of Foot but ‘in consequence of an affection of the head’ left the army.
