| Description Of Item | By Doctor John Charles Bucknill, Medical Superintendent of the Devon County Asylum on cutaneous discolorations resembling bruises occurring in the insane. Used two patient case examples, J.N and E.G. Ruled out a fall or external cause for bruises. Concluded that discolorations were pathological changes comparable to that of scurvy. Provided four reasons of justification.
Two letters in the following issue of the Asylum Journal in response to Dr Bucknill’s article. Both letters confirmed the Doctor’s assessment of cutaneous discolorations.
