The lectures themselves are not usually dated and any dating in the entries comes from the accompanying articles and cuttings. Where no date is known the span 1840s-1870s has been entered. Laycock's lectures, as opposed to the additional material in a lot of the folders, are on similar paper and have been pierced for binding. They often include later additions, annotations and lists of illustrations from the Thompsonian collection and others.
