Description Of Item | The titles for the entries came from the original cases used by Laycock (see LAT/5). In the previous catalogue, the files were further grouped as follows which may also reflect Laycock's divisions (this original catalogue can be consulted) : LAT/1/1-2 - Introductory LAT/1/3-11 - Circulatory System (Blood and Heart) LAT/1/12-18 - Digestive System and Abdomen LAT/1/19-27 - Fevers and Inflammation LAT/1/28-33 - Kidneys, Liver, Spleen LAT/1/34-63 - Nervous System and Mental Diseases LAT/1/64-68 - Respiratory System LAT/1/69-76 - Skin LAT/1/77-80 - Miscellaneous The lectures themselves are not usually dated and any dating in the entries comes from the accompanying articles and cuttings. Where no date is known the span 1840s-1870s has been entered. Laycock's lectures, as opposed to the additional material in a lot of the folders, are on similar paper and have been pierced for binding. They often include later additions, annotations and lists of illustrations from the Thompsonian collection and others.
A list of the items in this section was done when the material was first deposited. This is held in the accession folder and can be consulted on request. |
