| Description Of Item | Papers relating to the dispute between Dr William Carpenter and Thomas Laycock. He writes to say that he had received a letter from Carpenter in which he expresses his intent to print a letter to vindicate his character in the British and Foreign Medico-Chirurgical Journal. Sutherland, possibly the editor, agreed to print it as long as it contained nothing actionable. In his second letter he returns a letter from Carpenter that Laycock had sent him and writes that he feels Carpenter is 'aware that his own cause if a bad one'. |
