| Description | Mary Lockhart was an unmarried woman who came from a distinguished family from Castlehill in South Lanarkshire. They were proprietors from 1667 with one of them becoming a judge Lord Castlehill. The estates were eventually owned by the Sinclair-Lockharts the last of whom died in 1904. The donor of this collection is believed to be connected to Lockhart through an ancestor, George Napier, who was an Edinburgh lawyer and appears to have acted for Lockhart.
