On the second page is inscribed 'Edinburgh 13 May 1812 This Day I Andrew Duncan Professor of the Institutions of Medicine in the University of Edinburgh in the 67th year of my age, and enjoying perfect health both of body and of mind confirm, the legacy to the College of Physicians, mentioned in the two preceding pages, by affixing to this codicil my own seal and signature'.
