| Description Of Item | This section contains the diaries of Sir Alexander Morison. The diary entries often include money paid or received and the state of health of patients visited. He also wrote pencil entries at the end of a volume, wrote them as fair copy once a new volume was started and wrote over the pencil entries with notes. The diaries were originally kept in a wooden box with 'Diaries of Sir Alexander Morison' inscribed on the top; the volumes for February 1837 to June 1840 and February 1851 to December 1858 are wanting. Loose pages for the end of December 1839 and January 1840 were also in the box and these have been added to the series. |
