Description Of ItemPoole compiled the reviews, from books he owned, when drawing up materials for a report on provision expenditure in the Montrose Asylum. The reviews are of works by Mojon, R D Thomson, Budd, Watson, Liebig, Dumas & Cahour, Baly, Schultz, Richardson, Carpenter, Metcalf and Henslow; 'Comparative Nourishment of Food', 'Principles of Dietetics', 'Health of the Army and Navy' and 'Experimental researches on inanition' from the British and Foreign Medical Review; United States' seamen daily rations; 'Observations on Diet' from the Medico-Chirurgical Review; Medical Officers of prisons in Scotland report on diet; 'Freak of the Starvationists' from the Medical Gazette; and national dietetic usages. Includes an unfinished memorial to Sir James Graham, Secretary of State, on diet which Poole notes 'rendered unnecessary by measures in proper quarter'.
