A lot of them also have a name next to the title which may be the patient's but is more likely to be the person who originally told Sayer the prescription. A number are attributed to 'my mother' and one prescription is described 'Mrs Sayer never faild - my mother constantly used itt'. Other names include Dr Critten, Dr Coatsworth, Mrs Nash, Lady Floyer, Mrs Hawley, Lady Crisp, Dr Willis, Mrs Hopgood etc. The volume is written in more than one hand and is indexed at the end.
