Description Of Item | Before requesting any further enlistment, the Committee wanted to ascertain how far the medical strength in divisions had already been reduced. On 15th June 1915, it issued a circular to Secretaries of Divisions requesting them to collect information under three schedules: Schedule A - names and details of civilian practitioners accepted for whole time service before 15th June and whether mobilised Schedule B - names and details of civilian practitioners committed to whole time service before 15th June but after 15th May Schedule C - names and details of civilian practitioners who at 15th June had not applied for commissions but were prepared to do so if arrangements could be made for their practices. (See Currie pp29-30)
Many of the schedules were returned with correspondence from the divisional secretaries. The dates are taken from the date of receipt stamped on the forms. The forms were originally in one big bundle but have been separated for ease of use. |
