Description Of ItemThe volume starts with a list of books of James Lind, presumably ones he owned, that related to scurvy then includes general notes about him including citations of other books and articles on Lind and scurvy. From p88 the volume contains newspaper cuttings and letters pasted on to the pages. These papers include: from W S Caw of the Royal Infirmary on the infirmary's history, 1926; from Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh enclosing an excerpt from the college's minutes on Lind's indenture, 1926; from University of Edinburgh on Lind's student records, 1925; copy of two letters from Lind to Sir Alexander Dick of Priestfield, 1758; copy of Lind's application to be a licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, 1748; from the Royal Society of Edinburgh on records relating to Lind, 1925; from the Royal Naval Hospital enclosing a photograph of the frontispiece of Lind's 'Diseases Incidental to Europeans in Hot Climates', 1925; from National Portrait Gallery, London, 1925; references to Lind in Dowden's Life of Shelley; extract of Lind's and his brother's birth certificates, 1716; from the Edinburgh Town Clerk with details of the Lind family in the city records, 1926; from the Advocate's Library on their records of Lind, 1925. At the rear of the volume is a record of experiments Stockman carried out on himself concerning a diet of fruit from 14th December 1925 to 14th January 1926.
