Description | Walsh studied animal physiology at the University of Oxford and graduated in 1943. He then went on to do neurophysiological research at Oxford University followed by a scholarship at Harvard Medical School. He then graduated MA BSc BM BCh from Oxford in 1947. He was a senior lecturer in physiology at the University of Edinburgh 1954-1967. Also during that period he worked as a honorary consultant at the South East Scotland Regional Hospital Board and as a WHO visiting professor to Baroda Medical College, India. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London in 1967 and of Edinburgh in 1968.
