| Description | Ian Wilmut was born on 7 July, 1944 in Hampton Lucy, Warwickshire, England and is an English embryologist and Chair of the Scottish Centre for Regenerative Medicine at the University of Edinburgh. Wilmut was the leader of the research group that cloned Dolly the Sheep in 1996, the first mammal cloned from an adult somatic cell.
