Description Of ItemSilver gilt, 4 inch long, chased thistle & leaf base, with 2 entwining serpents at top of stem surmounted by heavily chased thistles and scroll bowl, with turrets (4 sets) cockerel, ball and applied shield and figures, engraved College crest and ‘Alexander Russell Simpson’. 132 ozs. Edinburgh 1892.

Presented in 1893 by Sir Alexander R. Simpson on demitting office as President, 1891/93. Originally in silver, the Council decided to have it gilded and provide a suitable stand. (Quarterly Minute 1886/95, p.463).
