Bequeathed in 1916 by Mr Alex Sholto Douglas, W S , Clerk to the College 1892-1908. Originally presented by the College in 1887 to Christopher Douglas, W S, Clerk to the College 1856/94, who left it to his brother Alex. This is a copy in silver of the original sculptured ‘Warwick Vase’, 5 inch high and 7 inch in diameter, dating from the 4th century BC, which came from Hadrian’s villa at Tivoli. It now stands in a greenhouse in the gardens of Warwick Castle. (Quarterly Minutes 1914/26, p.80). |
