Carron oil is a soothing liquid blend of linseed oil and limewater that was often prescribed to treat burns and scalds. First developed in the nineteenth century, Carron oil was named after Carron, a village in Falkirk in Scotland, where the treatment was first used by ironworkers. Modern medical advice discourages the application of creams or liquids to burns and so Carron oil is no longer recommended. |
